JOURNALISM & MEDIA JUSTICE IN THE SOUTH TRACK

Journalism & Media Justice in the South brings a racial equity lens to issues of media justice and offers participants hands-on engagement and opportunities to make their voices heard in the media. Topics can include: the media legacy of 1898 (when white racists rioted in Wilmington), how to exercise your rights to public records, how individuals can be a voice for truth in local media, how organizations can develop relationships to power their communications strategy, an exploration of prison phone and video visitation issues through a journalistic lens, and a discussion of Wilmington’s local news ecosystem.

Coordinators of this track are Alicia Bell, Fiona Morgan and Ren Smith.
